First Poker Cheatsheet for Beginners

This Cheatsheet will teach you how to play during preflop. It will teach you when to raise or when to fold.

The data shown was generated by simulationg 3 million games and analysing their outcomes.
For every hand that won the value for the hand is counted up for every hand that lost the value is decreased by 1. Hence a hand that wins more than it looses will be positive and the other way around.
You can see how strong the pairs and in comparison with other high cards like A-K or K-Q. They are nearly 4 times as strong. But pay attention: these values are only valid for headsup situation.

  1. I think your math is good, but your conclusions are wrong.

First, most poker situations are NOT heads-up. Most occur with 6-10 players, and hands like K7 (which have a positive value in your chart) are simply not playable in most cases - certainly not by beginners.

There is a reason that beginners are recommended to play only the top 10 starting hands (77+, AQs, AKs, and AKo), and to raise preflop with all of them. Those hands are relatively easy to play. You either have a pair or you don't, or it is top pair, or it is not. It is very easy to evaluate that situation.

Additionally, it is recommended to raise preflop with almost 100% of your starting hands. You may vary the size of the raise based on your position, your table image, and your strategy; but varying the size of the raise based on the strength of your cards is something that your opponents will pick up on. If you raise 5x the BB with AA, and 2x with 77, and limp with QJ, opponents will pick up on it.

Honestly, I don't think that your beginner's guide really works all that well, even though your intentions are good.

  2. To be honest i wrote this sheet when i was just playing poker for two month. I tried to get better by simulating many hands and draw conclusions from that. That is the main problem of this sheet: it only considers the math but not the psyology. But when people read the guide and your comment afterwords it may help :). Thanks anyway
